Carolyn Carlson, an iconic figure in dance and choreography, has left an indelible mark on the artistic world thanks to a career rich in success and innovation. Her many works, presented in major institutions around the world, bear witness to her boundless creativity. This year, she has chosen Les Franciscaines for a special evening on the occasion of the Nuit Européenne des Musées 2024.

5pm - Encounter with Carolyn Carlson
Poetic exploration of Carolyn Carlson's captivating universe in a lecture-meeting hosted by Hélène de Talhouët, PhD in art history and curator of the artist's exhibitions. This meeting offers a unique opportunity to analyze Carolyn Carlson's creative process through excerpts from her works, be they performances, drawings or writings. The session will be followed by an opportunity for enriching interaction with the audience.

7pm or 9pm - Dance: "Islands" (choice of two sessions)
The choreographer takes over Le Cloître des Franciscaines to present her "Islands", a series of four short solos inspired by nature and the human condition. Performed with mastery by members of her company, these solos are the very essence of her choreographic work. In a world where discourse is omnipresent, dance offers visual communication, imbued with emotion and gestural purity. This intimate, poetic performance transports us into a world of wonder, where each movement evokes a delicate poem, swirling like leaves in the wind. A unique experience, beautifully expressed by Eléonore Kolar in l'Alchimie du verbe, that promises to be unforgettable.
