Esteville, 30 km north of Rouen.
The Abbé Pierre remembrance and commemoration site is a huge exhibition hall with a profusion of videos, photos and personal objects that present the life, the message and the work of the man who had been "France's favourite personality" for years.
The display tells the story of an exceptional man: priest, member of the Resistance during World War II, member of Parliament, peace activist, builder of houses for the poor and homeless, founder of the Emmaüs movement, etc.
Located in the house where he had lived since 1964, this place of remembrance invites you to get behind the public mask of Abbé Pierre by visiting his bedroom, his study, his workshop as well as the chapel where he used to reflect and pray. You will also learn more about his campaigns in France and throughout the world to help the underprivileged.
The Emmaüs - Abbé Pierre Centre provides a booklet with a scavenger hunt for children aged 6-12 and organises activities for school field trips (booking required) approved by the French Ministry of Education.
