It is as lively as a village centre on market day. You enter via a narrow canal, after leaving the Banc du Grand Vey natural site to your starboard side. Take to your binoculars! A seal colony has taken up residence there. Then turn round and set your binoculars eastwards - the rocky promontory you can see around 2 miles away is Pointe du Hoc. Grandcamp is a stopover where fishing rimes with history and nature. As you enter, you are welcomed by a line of placid seagulls, poised on the jetty. Here, the atmosphere is one of an active yet approachable harbour town.
