Orienteering is a leisure activity that involves finding waypoints (or markers) in the terrain along a route of your choice, using a map and possibly a compass. The markers are wooden posts used to check that you are in the right place, and are fitted with a "coded" clip to confirm that you have reached the marker.
The Villers-Bocage orienteering course has 2 levels:
- Green: for children, schoolchildren, families and those new to orienteering. The markers are located on or near paths (1.5 km - markers 31 to 40).
- Blue: this route is designed for more experienced orienteers. The markers are a little further away from the paths and offer a wider view of the park and the Ecanet woods. (2 km - markers 41 to 50)
Maps of the routes and marker cards are on sale at the Villers-Bocage Tourist Office - 02 31 77 16 14.
