"Trouville-sur-Mer, the queen of beaches that has lost its smile"

That's how we might sum up the mood on June 19, 1940, the start of four years of occupation by German troops.

Four years in which the trouvillais were confronted with a harsh, austere and oppressive life. As tragic as the events they were to live through would be, they would nonetheless keep within them the flame of hope for freedom in the near future.

During this visit, you will discover the daily life of the trouvillais and trouvillaises during this difficult period. The changes in their lifestyle, the implementation of military operations such as Operation Seelowe and the construction of the Atlantic Wall, which transformed the face of the beach.

We will also look at those who refused defeat, rebelled against occupation, rejected collaboration and took every risk to liberate Trouville-sur-Mer and the surrounding area.

How the town lived through the last months of the occupation, mixing new hope with extreme caution, until the long-awaited day of liberation on August 24, 1944. Finally, we look at how Trouville-sur-Mer recovered from these events, and what traces remain today of this troubled period in our history.

All these stories will be told during this tour, so that this lesser-known period in the history of Trouville-sur-Mer and the people who lived through it are not forgotten.
