80 years after the liberation of the city, the Donjon de Rouen takes visitors back in time to 1944 for a weekend. Machine guns, jeeps, motorcycles, weapons and military equipment will take the public right back to the front line. The event will also be an opportunity to discover all the culture that the Americans and Canadians brought with them. In an atmosphere of jubilation that will sweep through the Donjon and its surrounding area, everyone will be able to vibrate to the rhythm of jazz concerts and swing dances.
This weekend of historical re-enactment takes place in the heart of Rouen's medieval dungeon, transformed into a bunker by the German army in 1944. The monument still bears traces of camouflage paint on the outside, as well as a reinforced concrete slab on the top floor designed to protect the occupants from bombardment.
