In the age of the Anthropocene, many visual artists are responding to environmental upheavals by changing the way they produce, using natural materials as the basis for their creations. The exhibition Quand la nature devient matière à inventer presents the work of some of these artists, sometimes gatherers, gleaners, explorers or researchers, whose approach often lies at the confluence of art and science. In the 19th century, the Impressionists were already questioning our relationship with nature. Today, in the same way, these artist-researchers, by creating from natural resources, through experimentation and careful observation of their environment, seek to humbly renew our way of being in the world. The works presented in this exhibition therefore aim to raise awareness of the need to preserve our resources, through the plastic qualities of the materials used, and are intended to offer solutions.
