As every year, the local vocal group "VOKALIZ" offers a concert on the forecourt of the Notre Dame de Lourdes chapel, at dusk, with the show lights magnifying the chapel's original façade.

Built in 1870, the Notre Dame de Lourdes chapel is a somewhat unusual monument.

Located in the hamlet of Sainfoin, on the road leading from the center of town to the Courval glassworks, it was donated by the master glassmakers. The overall Gothic brick architecture is reminiscent of the Notre Dame church in the town center. It's the façade that catches the eye with its originality: the bricks are covered with a mixture of stone and glass, created by debris taken directly from the furnaces of the surrounding glassworks (Nesle-Normandeuse, Le Courval?).
The overall effect is to evoke a mythical representation of the grotto at Lourdes, both with its rocky appearance and with the small, dark door that opens onto a brighter space. After the chapel?s surroundings were restored in the immediate post-war period, local residents added an illuminated waterfall, further evoking the grotto of Lourdes and highlighting the shards of glass on the façade.
The interior is still equipped for prayer, with liturgical furniture that was installed in the chapel after the church was bombed in 1944.
A statue of Bernadette Soubirous kneeling faces the chapel, praying to the Blessed Virgin, whose statue is installed in a niche high up in the façade.

Until very recently, processions from Notre Dame Church to the chapel took place every year on Assumption Day, attracting large numbers of pilgrims. The same was true for parish communions, when everyone went in procession to the chapel.

Legend has it that this chapel and its surroundings have a special power over children?s walking: if a toddler takes too long to walk independently, he must be made to walk around the chapel 3 times? The results on the new biped?s autonomy would be very rapid!

Since 2015, the Assumption procession has been reactivated, and work to redevelop the surrounding area has been carried out with the aim of magnifying the 3 dimensions of this place: the link with the glassworks, the link with Lourdes, and the link with the surrounding nature, making it a place of green calm where everyone can give the meaning they wish to the different elements chosen.
