The commune of Tour-en-Bessin celebrates its liberation on June 8, 2024 with a host of events in the heart of the village.
Starting at 2:00 pm, a parade of vintage vehicles will wend its way through the streets of the village to the town center.
A special tribute will be paid to the soldiers of the 1st US Infantry Division, the Big Red One, and the units of the 9th Air Force stationed at A13 airfield.
Numerous events will punctuate the afternoon:
Re-enactments, theater, a brass band, an exhibition of vintage vehicles, period photos and documents.
Dedicated activities for children: Games, a "fighters? course", competitions and tests.
From 7:30 p.m., a grand outdoor meal followed by a popular dance.
Torchlight procession, look up, the liberation is also celebrated in the sky at 11 p.m. with a fireworks display.
Whether you're a history buff or just curious, these events are a great way to celebrate the return of freedom to Tour en Bessin.
