On the weekend of June 14, 15 and 16, 2024, Caumont-L'Eventé will celebrate the 80th anniversary of its liberation. The commune was liberated by the 1st American Infantry Division on June 13, 1944, after intense fighting.
Numerous events and festivities will be offered to the public:
- Friday June 14 :
10am: Official opening accompanied by the Ateliers Musicaux de la Souleuvre band, commemorative speeches, wreath-laying.
2pm to 6pm: Walking tour with schoolchildren "The key events in the liberation of Caumont".
8:30pm: Performance by the schoolchildren, accompanied by the Or Bleu choir.
10pm: Open-air cinema screening of "La Grande Vadrouille".
- Saturday June 15 - Downtown
11am: Maison citoyenne: Lecture "Caumont l?Éventé, strategic town in the Battle of Normandy" by Pierre-Louis GOSSELIN, head of the Big Red 1 Museum in Colleville-sur-Mer.
2pm: Maison citoyenne: Lecture "La spoliation des ?uvres d?art en temps de guerre" by Martine Baransky, art historian.
3pm: Church: Concret by the Briovère Classical Ensemble.
3pm - 8:30pm: Passages Fanfare Jazzy Swing 40?s and street art (Place de la Mairie)
9pm: Place de la Mairie: D-DAY ladies concert (Tribute Andrews Sisters).
- Sunday June 16th
11am: Maison citoyenne - espace public numérique: Presentation of the video game "CAUMONT?S GAP - Steel Division Normandy 44".
2pm: Church: Concert by the Or Bleu Choir and the Briovère Classical Ensemble.
2pm - 4pm: Pony ride (Place de la Mairie)

All weekend long:
Citizen radio on Place de la Mairie. Exhibition of miniature military and civilian vehicles and period objects in the hall under the town hall.
