Exposition “En compagnie d’Eugène Boudin. Entre Côte de Grâce et Côte Fleurie, à l’aube de l’impressionnisme”

Major events,

HONFLEUR

To 26/08/2024

Part of the Normandie Impressioniste festival, the exhibition includes some sixty works showing the influence of the local artist on his peers and on the emergence of the most famous pictorial movement in the history of art.
Spread over 500 m² and three levels, some sixty works are presented with a very precise idea in mind: "To present the significant role played by Eugène Boudin and the Saint-Siméon farm in the artistic emulation that led to Impressionism".

Alongside the many works by the man Camille Corot nicknamed "The King of Skies", visitors can discover a selection of paintings by Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Gustave Courbet, Johan-Barthold Jongkind, Karl Daubigny and Louis-Alexandre Dubourg. They all share one thing in common: they were painted on or near the Normandy coast.

Two major works stand out. First, La charrette sous la neige à Honfleur. Painted by Claude Monet around 1867, and on loan from the Musée d?Orsay, it evokes the artist?s first visit to Honfleur. Next, Frédéric Bazille painting at his easel, by Auguste Renoir.
