Far from the image of post-war concrete towns, the center of Coutances seems to have retained its pre-war charm. And yet, 65% destroyed by the bombardments of June 1944, the small town has been completely redesigned by an architect whose name is also associated with the reconstruction of Saint-Malo: Louis Arretche. Living in the rubble, finding temporary housing, growing impatient... Coutançais people lived through a construction site that lasted over 20 years. This exhibition takes us back in time to better understand the town of today. Bringing the family? Children can keep busy in the "Little Architect" area!
