Cérémonie du 08 juin 1944 – Manifestation autour de l’aviation, la différence et le transfert de mémoire

Major events,

SAINT-VIGOR-LE-GRAND

From 08/06/2024

Using the historic site of the Manoir du Petit Magny (headquarters and resort of the pilots assigned to airfield B8) as a backdrop, this event will honor the airmen who served during the landings on June 06, 1944.
A commemoration will take place from 10:00 am, featuring the nationalities who took part in the D-Day landings.
This commemoration is divided into 3 parts:
1) The transfer of memory: veterans will pass on a torch to schoolchildren from Saint Vigor le Grand and Congo Brazzaville (over 200 children), symbolizing the transfer of memory. Testimonies and songs will also be performed by the children.
2) Difference: Spotlighting nations too often "forgotten" --> New Zealand, Belgium, Poland, South Africa...
3) Aviation: to honor the airmen and units who stayed at the ALG B8 airfield during the Battle of Normandy
Throughout the day, a reconstituted military camp will be present on the site, and the VMARS company will have the honor of presenting and explaining the different modes of communication during the war (such as analog AM, analog FM and Morse code, by amateur radio operators).
A vintage aircraft will fly over the area for an air show.
An aerial surprise for young and old alike.
