VIMOUTIERS

22/06/2024

In 1724, Johann Sebastian Bach organized a torchlight procession in Leipzig with 600 students.

In 2024, based on an original idea by J.-Y. Chazal, "Make people listen to and love Bach", a concert will be organized on June 22 at 8pm, at the Notre-Dame de l?Assomption church in Vimoutiers, to commemorate the tercentenary of the gathering that Johann Sebastian Bach organized in Leipzig.

Reciter and actor Philippe Ermelier is coordinating this exceptional free concert, which will bring together?

- the Schola de l'Orne, la Chorale de la Paroisse de Vimoutiers, la Tichevillaise, la Vie qui chante and la Dives à l?unisson;

- organists: Julian Matthews and Emmanuel Sales;

- soloists: Sophie Beaude, Catherine David, Philippe Ermelier, Jan Pelan, Syra de Tarade?

- musicians and members of the Conservatoire de musique de Lisieux and the Conservatoire de musique de Vimoutiers.

The public and choirs are invited to gather at 8pm in front of the church of Notre-Dame de l?Assomption in Vimoutiers. Organs, trumpets, oboes - in short, all the instruments present - will call on everyone to enter? Organs, choirs, soloists and musicians will offer an anthology of Johann Sebastian Bach's most beautiful musical pages. The choir members will then exit to the church forecourt with a lantern in hand to escort the enchanted audience out! At the end of the day, the beautiful stained glass windows will complete the show, illuminated by the setting sun.

A glass of friendship concludes the event.
