Les arbres remarquables du Manoir de l’Isle

Natural heritage,

LIVAROT-PAYS-D'AUGE

Designed by architect Victor Adeline in 1911, the manoir de l'isle has been planted with original, ambitious trees, in accordance with the wishes of the owner's wife, Georges Bisson. The formal garden features lime trees, a giant sequoia, a tulip tree and a ginkgo biloba, the 40-crore tree said to be the only one to have survived the Iroshima atomic bomb. In 1985, the estate was purchased by the town of Livarot, and in 2011, to celebrate the manor's centenary, the park was awarded the Arbres label and recognized as a nature refuge by the Groupe ornithologique normand (GONm).
