The church may be located on the site of a Roman temple. A carved stone representing a Roman goddess was found in the foundations.
The bell tower and the choir date from the Romanesque period. The large rose window was only pierced in the chevet in the 14th century
The two chapels, consecrated to the Virgin and to Saint Joseph, forming a transept, were built in the 19th century and take the shape of a ship's hull in their upper part
The nave, whose stained glass windows were destroyed in 1944, was built between 1865 and 1870. In 1874, Abbot Fournier launched a subscription to consolidate the belfry and buy three new bells.
Presence of modillions, carved on the church chevet, representing the seven deadly sins. They are characteristic of the Romanesque period.
