It's one of Lisieux's curiosities: right in the middle of the Médiathèque André Malraux, the carpet stops to make way for? a Roman road. Enormous blocks of stone, rather bumpy, pave the floor, an irruption of the past in a place dedicated to knowledge. Two thousand years ago, the road from Lutetia (Paris) to Vieux, near Caen, passed through here and led, for those who wished, all the way to Rome. After the invasion of Gaul, the Romans brought their mastery of public works to the conquered country.
