Bungee Jumping from the Viaduc de la Souleuvre

Any view of the heritage railway viaduct over the Souleuvre river is guaranteed to impress, but not many get to take in the view from upside down. As first-time jumpers, it was the perfect location to satisfy our thirst for adventure in Normandy! We share the thrills of our first bungee jump experience.

THE SENSE OF EUPHORIA OF BUNGEE JUMPING

Standing on the 61 meters high tower facing the Viaduc de la Souleuvre for our first bungee jump was one of the most terrifying and thrilling thing we have ever done. Surely not for people with a weak heart or scared of heights. Before jumping with an elastic band around our ankles, we tried to quell our nerves to enjoy the surrounding magnificent views of the Normandy countryside, while Christian, the friendly instructor from AJ Hackett tried to make us comfortable with the environment. “Three, two, one, fly…”

It’s a daunting experience to throw yourself off a safe tower into the unknown free-falling towards the earth’s surface. But this was actually the part we enjoyed the most: the ultimate adrenaline rush. Just spread your hands out, let go of everything and enjoy the moment!

For the less adventurous, there are other thrilling activities at the Souleuvre Viaduct. Young children can sledge down across the stunning landscapes with their parents. The giant swing entertains kids of all ages as well as the giant zip line. The bravest dare to try the pendulum jump or the night jumps for lasting sensations.
