Les Franciscaines was founded in 1877 as an orphanage, then a military hospital, a domestic school, a vocational high school and finally a "home for the elderly sisters". It had a thousand and one destinies before it was renovated by the town of Deauville.
A rebirth for a new vocation: to become Deauville's multi-cultural center, bringing together in a single building: the media library, museum collections, temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, shows, a FabLab and a restaurant. Since its opening in May 2021, Les Franciscaines has attracted 450,000 visitors, with a local (4,000 subscribers), regional, national and international reach. It is the operational tool of the City of Deauville's cultural policy.
A place of innovation and artistic effervescence for all generations, Les Franciscaines offers unparalleled cultural experiences.
