Les Franciscaines

Les Franciscaines was an orphanage when it was founded in 1877, a military hospital, a domestic school, a vocational college and finally a "home for the elderly nuns". It went through a thousand different lives before it was renovated by the town of Deauville.
A rebirth with a new vocation: to become Deauville’s multi-cultural centre, bringing together in a single building: the media library, museum collections, temporary exhibitions, concerts, conferences, shows, a FabLab and a restaurant. Since its opening in May 2021, Les Franciscaines has attracted over 700,000 visitors, with a local, regional, national and international reach. It is the operational tool of the City of Deauville’s cultural policy.
A place of innovation and artistic effervescence for all generations, Les Franciscaines offers unique cultural experiences. At Les Franciscaines, visitors are active, in control of their choices between the many scenarios, gateways and resources on offer. They explore at their own pace to build their own knowledge, a walk in which surprise is as much a part of the experience as the certainty of finding what they’re looking for.
As part of the partnerships set up by the region’s cultural sites, visitors to the Franciscaines can benefit from a discount on their admission ticket to the partner institutions. These advantages, granted at the discretion of our partners and on presentation of a ticket or season ticket, are subject to conditions.
Partner cultural institutions: Château et Jardins de Boutemont, Musée Villa Montebello, Mémorial de Caen, Musée des impressionnismes Giverny, Villa du Temps retrouvé, Les Dominicaines.
