WIZZ, Women in Jazz

The new female jazz generation

In December 2023, we welcomed to Coutances the first session of the Wizz - Women in Jazz program: a workshop for ten young female musicians, on the frontiers of mentoring, training and sisterhood. For three days, under the guidance of Anne Paceo, who initiated the project, and Airelle Besson, they practiced, exchanged ideas and learned from seasoned artists and professionals from the artistic world. Born of the desire to remedy the lack of representation of women in jazz, this all-female interlude led to the creation of a rich and singular repertoire, including a personal composition by each of the participants, arranged for the ensemble. Talented, joyful, committed and collaborative, these ten female composers are sure to make a name for themselves on today?s jazz scene. In the meantime, it's impossible not to share with you the magic of this unique encounter!
