Blues concert as part of the "Les Passeurs de Blues" festival.
9pm - Salle Max-Pol Fouchet - Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue.
Concert by Two Roots followed by an unusual musical encounter with a lecture on the place of women in the history of the blues, orchestrated by Philippe Gehanne, the evening?s master of ceremonies.
The lone Bluesman featured in our 1st poster is not returning alone, but is accompanied by a woman who has come to break his solitude.
For it's obvious that women are recognized as a source of inspiration for blues men, whether as authors, performers, creators or influencers, breaking the codes of the early 20th century with their social and political stances, their autonomy and their assertion of sexual freedom.
From Bessie SMITH to Beth HART, not forgetting Etta JAMES, BIG MAMA THORNTON, Janis JOPLIN, Tina TURNER, SISTER ROSETTA THARPES and many others, the festival will celebrate their influence on the musical genre and on bluesmen, as mothers, wives, mistresses, sisters, friends...
Hosted by Philippe GEHANNE.
