Join us on November 14 at 8:30pm at the Saint-Lô theater for ORN/opéra's show "Les musiciens de Sempé".

Created by the Orchestre Régional de Normandie, this show pays tribute to Sempé, who passed away in August 2022. The father of Petit Nicolas was a great lover of music and musicians, whom he sketched with malice and tenderness. The concept is simple and perfectly successful: projections of Sempé?s drawings devoted to musicians, a voice acting out extracts from radio interviews and other texts, and a lively musical setting of the pieces he adored.
After all, Sempé had an unconditional love of music, whether classical or jazz, and there was no difference in value for him, who so dreamed of being Duke Ellington. To support this creation, actor Benoît Marchand plays the role of cartoonist Jean-Jacques Sempé, who talks about musicians, their mannerisms and attitudes. A string quartet accompanies him, alongside jazz pianist Bruno Angelini, to give voice to the range of worlds and imaginations of the famous cartoonist.

Concept, direction and actor: Benoît Marchand
Jazz piano and arrangements : Bruno Angelini
