“Retourner la Terre” (exposition temporaire) – Maison natale Jean-François Millet

Through his works, artist Bernard Clarisse offers an interpretation of working with earth, inspired by Greek authors and art history. The central subject of his artistic reflection, earth is presented in all its ambiguity, as both the image of life and death, nourishing earth and the final resting place of bodies.
He also offers a rereading of nineteenth-century works, in 2D and 3D, as well as paintings with holes, which he calls "operative fields".
Antique tools, paintings and installations by the artist interact with works from the departmental collection.
