The exhibition will present a previously unseen aspect of the commune?s history, the period 1939-1936. In addition to the usual subjects of mobilization, material life, the Occupation and the Liberation, etc., three particular facts will be highlighted: the reception of Belgian refugees in May-June 1940; the reception of over 2,000 Alençon refugees who fell victim to the bombings in the summer of 1944; the presence of a quarry where 12 resistance fighters were shot in the spring of 1944, including three Soviets.
