From 21/09/2024

The result of a partnership between the Department of Urban Planning and the Musée de Normandie (Mission de valorisation du patrimoine de la Ville de Caen), the project is part of the regional label "Patrimoine de la Reconstruction en Normandie" (Reconstruction Heritage in Normandy) awarded by the Normandy Region to the City of Caen in 2021, and thus contributes to the promotion of the City of Art and History label.
A remarkable urban and architectural adventure
Following the bombings of 1944, Caen was partly destroyed. The center, with the Saint-Jean district, was particularly hard hit. The city had to be rethought and rebuilt with respect for its heritage and a "reasonable modernity", away from the picturesque and sometimes unhealthy maze of the "old Norman city". It?s a 20-year epic and a major town-planning project, a new foundation for the thousand-year-old city.Free visits and events:Protestant TempleSaint Julien ChurchSaint Paul QuarterPlace de la RépubliqueSaint Jean QuarterChapelle du Bon SauveurTheaterExhibitions - until November 3, 2024:Immersive exhibition "Panorama de Caen"
