Larzac! is not the story of the famous struggle of the 70s, but of the current life of the area, its inhabitants, peasants or not, and their unique model of collective management of agricultural land.
Alone on stage, Philippe Durand shares the raw, intimate testimonies of these inhabitants, whom he has met and recorded. With a pared-down staging, a table, a chair and his notebook (as in his show 1336, Paroles de Fralibs), he explores questions of ownership, peasant farming and participatory democracy.
Inspired by the Société Civile des Terres du Larzac, this project, born after several visits to the plateau, pays tribute to a collective which, despite predictions of failure, has endured and prospered for 40 years. Larzac! is a cry, a tribute to this discreet but exemplary success, a journey to the heart of a concrete and lasting utopia.
