The Le Savoir et le Fer association is opening the doors of the Maison du Fer in Dompierre for open or guided tours on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22 from 2pm to 5pm on the theme of tools and techniques used in old forges.
At the Forges de Varenne site in Champsecret, Mr. Fabien Labaisse, from the Vivre en Famille association, will be on hand to explain how cast iron and steel were made.
You'll also be able to see a collection of blacksmith's tools and cast-iron objects, such as cannonballs, unearthed during excavations at the Forges de Varenne site and on display at the Maison du Fer.
