"PAPI, MAMIE, C?ETAIT COMMENT PENDANT LA GUERRE? Courseulles-sur-Mer, 1940-1944", a new temporary exhibition presented free of charge in the hall of the Juno Beach Centre from May 15 to December 31, 2024
In 1944, Line aged 6, Paule aged 12, Robert aged 19, the 58-year-old vicar, and all the Courseullais whose stories form the basis of this exhibition, saw the Canadians arrive on D-Day.

Through the eyes of children and adults of the time, they recount their memories of the Second World War in Courseulles-sur-Mer. Their stories, peppered with anecdotes, provide an insight into the lives of Courseulles?s civilians, from the dark hours of German occupation to the meeting with the Liberators on D-Day and in the days that followed.

This exhibition, specially designed to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, is made up of quotations, extracts from oral interviews and written accounts by witnesses to the Second World War in Courseulles-sur-Mer, drawn from the museum?s documentary holdings.
