Exposition : “André Hambourg, rendez-vous à Venise”

Major events,

DEAUVILLE

To 05/01/2025

André Hambourg discovered Venice in 1957. It was love at first sight for the artist! So much so, in fact, that he returned several times the following year, eager to explore the Serenissima in all its seasons and nuances.
It was an intimate experience that he recounted in his paintings and drawings, from small sketches to huge canvases. He even brought back plans for lithographs from his travels, which he would complete on his return to Paris.
The painter takes us on a journey through forgotten streets and canals, from Chioggia to Murano, between snow-covered gondolas and pigeons in St. Mark's Square, stopping, of course, at the Dodges' palace. Hamburg takes us on a voyage of discovery of the Venetian soul, through scenes of everyday life and iconic landscapes.

Curated by Annie Madet-Vache, director of the Musée des Franciscaines, André Hambourg specialist and art historian.
