To mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, La Lyre de Flers and Cosedia Cantabile de Coutances, accompanied by the Flers instrumental group, Scherzo, and François Guillou on piano, will give a concert on Sunday November 24 at 3.30pm in the church of St Jean de Flers (subject to confirmation). Choristers and musicians will be conducted by Joseph Abanda and Raymond Lapie.
Following Scherzo?s performance of a few musical pieces, he will accompany the 2 choirs in excerpts from "The armed man" or "La messe pour la paix "which Karl Jenkins composed in 1999 during the Kosovo war. Other songs include Sanosa Porfia and Mi libertad by Juan del Encina; Chant des marais; Si tu me donnais la main and Hymne européen... Free admission with collection.
