Maison Jongkind: Fisherman's house and seascape art

This 17th-century house illustrates Honfleur's history, both through its maritime past (house built around a ship's mast) and through the presence of Johan Barthold Jongkind, an impressionist painter who worked with Claude Monet, and whose many works of seascape are reproduced in the house.

Honfleur and Normandy were born with the Vikings, and the story of William the Conqueror and his flagship can be discovered at La Mora, just a few yards from the Maison Jongkind.

Like all of Honfleur's fishermen's houses, the Maison Jongkind features several floors accessible via narrow staircases, so registration is strongly advised in order to accommodate small groups of 4 to 6 people maximum.
