From 21/09/2024

The Domaine de Bois Héroult opens its doors to you during the European Heritage Days.

- Self-guided tour of the park (ISMH) with paper guide or histopad (tablets that allow you to see the evolution of the estate through the centuries thanks to virtual reality). Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 12pm and from 2pm to 6pm.
Take a stroll through the French-style gardens, where you can see the foundations of the ancient Roman road from Dieppe to Forges-les-Eaux and Gournay, which was used by the tide boats and served as a road until 1834. You'll enjoy beautiful vistas, bicentennial trees, an open-air theater, hydrangea beds and a beautiful rose garden.
The histopad allows you to visualize in virtual reality the evolution of the estate, its architecture and the organization of its gardens over the centuries, as reconstituted thanks to the old plans of the estate that you can admire in the plan room of the Grand Commun.
During your visit to the park, you'll discover the exteriors of the estate's many buildings and learn more about typical 18th-century Norman architecture: Château, Grand Commun, Dovecote, Old Manor House, Farmhouse, Rose Garden... (all ISMH or fondation du patrimoine), but also admire the sculptures of Priscilla de Lamaze, artist and owner of the estate.
You can also take a guided tour of the Grand Commun, with its Gabriel de Broglie library containing almost 7,000 books on all the world's art forms (painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, etc.), and its map room.
Please note: the interior of the château (ISMH) is closed to the public on the occasion of the JEP.

- Visit the church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité de Bois-Héroult with a guided tour.
Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm.
The first chapel in Bois-Héroult was built in 1240 on the site of the present-day communal church, as ancient documents attest.
Bois-Héroult church: The present church was built in the early 18th century. The 18th-century carved wooden altarpiece is well preserved. This former chapel of the Château de Bois-Héroult was built around 1740 by Alphonse de Civille (1717-1772) ? Seigneur de Saint-Mards- and his wife née Anne de Chastenet de Puysegur ? daughter of the Maréchal de France. It is dedicated to Notre Dame de la Nativité and placed under the protection of Saint Fiacre. The chapel features a piéta by 17th-century Norman sculptor Lourdel, and a 17th-century painting depicting Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits.
The Saint Bénigne chapel (ISMH).
This was the entrance porch to the former chapel of the Vieux-château de Bois-Héroult. The porch dates back to 1540, and was built at the request of Father Mathieu Le BLANC - the parish priest who died the previous year, and whose obituary stone is affixed to the south wall of the nave.
In 1826, Bénigne PORET, Vicomte de BLOSSEVILLE, Marquis de CIVILLE and his wife Louise LE BOURACHER converted it into a baptismal font chapel.
With its acanthus-leaf ornamentation, it closely resembles the REBETS chapel, dated 1547. The rood beam dates from the Renaissance period, and features fine carved woodwork.
Saint Louis chapel
This chapel was built at the same time as the present-day Bois-Héroult church. As early as 1738, the Marquise de CIVILLE had a "private chapel" built for her "convenience". Adjacent to the choir, she placed it under the protection of Saint Louis. Since then, the chapel has remained a dependency of the château, which explains why in 1937 it was adorned with a stained-glass window (ISMH), featuring the coats of arms of the CIVILLE family and its alliances. This has since been supplemented by panels to the right of the altar, depicting the coats of arms of the current owners? families. The whole is listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques.

- Concert by the "Hound Dogs" in the Grand Commun of Château de Bois-Héroult on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2024 from 2pm to 6pm.
You can also take a guided tour of the Grand Commun of the Domaine de Bois-Héroult, with its Gabriel de Broglie library, containing almost 7,000 books on all forms of world art (painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, etc.), and its map room. Please note that the interior of the Château (ISMH) is completely closed to visitors during the JEP period.
