A stone's throw from Longny au Perche, between gentle valleys and quiet villages, Thierry Soret opens the doors of his workshop in Le Mage.
Inside, you'll find copper weathervanes crafted in the traditional way. Scenes of life featuring the "traditional" cockerel, but also various scenes representing human activities and trades of yesteryear, such as the ploughman, the sower, the reaper, the blacksmith, the wheelwright, the clockmaker, the potter, the cabinetmaker...
The craftsman gives a history of weathervanes through the ages, and explains how to read a weather vane according to its orientation to the prevailing wind.
As part of the European Heritage Days, the craftsman opens the doors of his workshop to the public... an opportunity to discover a little-known craft.
