The late 19th and early 20th centuries were a period of upheaval in terms of women's participation in sporting activities. Dieppe, a port and seaside town open to foreign influences, particularly English, saw the emergence and development of a variety of women?s sporting activities, including fencing, lawn tennis and badminton. From the public sea baths of the "intrepid swimmer", the Duchesse de Berry, to the twirls of the "divine" Suzanne Lenglen on the court, come and discover the story of the pioneers of women?s sport in Dieppe.
