Pedro is a painter/illustrator based in Nantes.
A child of the 80s, Pedro was immersed in an artistic environment from an early age, oscillating between skateboard imagery, the world of US comics, 20th-century painting and 90s graffiti.
As a painter, he naturally turned to the practice of muralism. Pedro confronts colors, shapes and materials like words to create a singular language.
His world is populated by a bestiary, where the animal is alternately a human figure and man an animal, and he reveals to viewers his unconscious zoo, between abstraction and figuration.
His work blends classical painting techniques with spray painting, depicting man through the animal figure in the manner of a fabulist.
Crude and naïve in appearance, his images provoke a harmony of tensions, a balance on the fault line, where words and motifs play in turn.
In the work he created for the town of Mortagne-au-Perche, Pedro confides that he wanted to evoke a Percheron crossing an oak grove, each side like an image capture of this journey.
This work evokes the COMPLAINTE DU PETIT CHEVAL BLANC, by poet Paul Fort
"Le petit cheval dans le mauvais temps, qu?il avait donc du courage!
He was a little white horse, all behind and he in front.
There was never good weather in this beautiful landscape.
There was never spring, neither behind nor in front.
But he was always happy, leading the village boys,
Through the black rain of the fields, all behind and he in front."
