The Pointe du Hoc is managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission and is part of the A major site in the history of the battle of Normandy, the Pointe du Hoc was an area with one of the strongest German fortifications on the Norman coast during the assault by Colonel Rudder’s rangers on the morning of the 6th of June. Carefully preserved, this site shows visitors the layout of a battery of artillery (with its blockhouses, observation post, shelters, trenches and anti-aircraft platforms) all highlighting the intensity of the combat.
