Mingei – Leathercraft workshop: leather bracelet (teenagers and adults)

Leather retains the imprint of every detail: a leaf vein, a strand of lace, a letter. This is what Stéphanie Sublemontier-Vauclin, a saddler and leather craftswoman, during an introductory workshop organised by the Trouville-sur-Mer Tourist Office on Mondays 21 and 28 December, from 4.15 pm to 5.45 pm.
Over the course of an hour and a half, each participant will create their own embossed leather bracelet. The design, the colour of the button used as a clasp, the patterns embossed into the leather (plant motifs, lace, cord) and even their first name: it’s all down to personal choice. Open to those aged 13 and over, the workshop requires no prior experience and allows everyone to work at their own pace until their creation is complete.
After starting out in the communications sector, Stéphanie trained in leathercraft in Paris and founded Mingei, her artisan workshop on the Côte Fleurie, where she makes bags, notebooks and small leather goods from vegetable-tanned leather. The workshop’s name refers to a Japanese movement that celebrates beautiful, handmade everyday objects.
The bracelet, its clasp and all the materials are provided. You’ll leave with a unique piece, to wear or to slip under the Christmas tree.
