Mingei – Leathercraft workshop: leather bracelet (children aged 8 to 12)

During the end-of-year holidays, the Trouville-sur-Mer Tourist Office invites children aged 8–12 to discover the art of leatherwork alongside Stéphanie Sublemontier-Vauclin, a saddler and leather craftswoman. Two sessions are on offer, on Mondays 21 and 28 December, from 2.30 pm to 4 pm.
During this one-and-a-half-hour workshop, the children get to decide: the design of their bracelet, the colour of the button that will serve as the clasp, the patterns to be stamped into the leather (leaves, blades of grass, lace, cord), the designs and even their first name. Stéphanie teaches them the craft’s techniques to the highest standards, without taking it all too seriously: they learn, they try things out, and they have fun.
As the founder of Mingei, a workshop specialising in handcrafted leather goods based on the Côte Fleurie, Stéphanie makes bags, notebooks and small leather goods using vegetable-tanned leather. No experience is necessary and all materials are provided.
There’s always a moment of magic when the leather reveals the imprint of a leaf or a pattern. Every child goes home with a unique bracelet, made with their own hands.
