Lecture: ‘Valentine de Saint-Point, Futurist Pioneer of the Belle Époque’ by Alexandra Destais

The Wednesday 28 October at 15 a.m30

Villa du Temps retrouvé 15 Avenue du Président Raymond Poincaré 14390 CABOURG

Although she remained in the shadows for a long time despite a prolific artistic and literary career, Valentine de Saint-Point was one of the most distinctive figures of the Belle Époque. A writer, lecturer, theorist and artist, she helped to promote Rodin’s work, responded to Marinetti’s Futurism with her famous ‘Manifesto of the Futurist Woman’ (1912) and invented a new form of dance: Métachorie.

This lecture, led by Alexandra Destais, PhD in Literature, will focus on the early period of her career, between 1905 and 1914, which was marked by extraordinary creativity.
