Lecture: ‘In Search of a Forgotten Institution: The Post Office in Marcel Proust’s Time’ by Sébastien Richez

The Wednesday 21 October at 15 a.m30

Villa du Temps retrouvé 15 Avenue du Président Raymond Poincaré 14390 CABOURG

Marcel Proust can be regarded as the greatest letter-writer of our time. Both in Paris and during his travels westwards, in the context of his friendships and literary circles, he was a prolific and undoubtedly discerning user of the postal service – a plural form that speaks volumes. During the famous writer’s lifetime, from 1871 to 1922, this public service underwent both routine and major structural changes, in parallel with advances in the population’s literacy levels.

Lecture presented by Sébastien Richez, a historian and research analyst with the Committee for the History of La Poste and the La Poste Group.

Registration is compulsory.
