Come and share a friendly and enriching cinematic experience, in the company of those who bring cinema to life.

For this special Sunday screening, Ciné Coup de Cœur is taking part in Documentary Film Month, a national event dedicated to documentary cinema, with Vincent Jaglin, co-director of the film, in attendance.

The film

*Un voyageur*, by Marcel Ophuls (2013, 1 hr 45 mins), a French documentary film.

Son of the filmmaker Max Ophuls and director of the famous *Le Chagrin et la Pitié*, Marcel Ophuls looks back on his career in this autobiographical film. A life of travel and exile, spanning Germany, France and Hollywood, marked by the great names of cinema he rubbed shoulders with and by a body of work that has consistently explored history and memory. Selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, and later broadcast on Arte, *Un voyageur* is an intimate and humorous portrait of a key witness to the 20th century.

The guest

The evening will be hosted by Vincent Jaglin, who co-directed the film. He began his career in 2000 as an intern and then as an assistant editor on the Franco-Belgian programme *Strip-Tease*, before assisting chief editor Sophie Brunet on films by Bertrand Tavernier and Virginie Wagon. In 2002, he directed his first film, *Ma gare, ma petite indépendance*, and then worked for sixteen years as a chief editor for France 3. His investigative film *La Découverte ou l’Ignorance – Histoire de mes fantômes bretons* won the Grand Prix at the Rendez-vous de l’Histoire in Blois in 2014. It was whilst preparing this film that, in 2010, he met Marcel Ophuls, his ‘cinematic mentor’, whom he persuaded to direct *Un voyageur*. Encouraged by Ophuls, he embarked in 2012 on the production of *Les Fantômes de Marguerite*, which was selected for numerous festivals, including the *États généraux du film documentaire* in Lussas, and for which he completed the final version in 2026. For the past four years, he has also worked as a projectionist and cultural mediator, successively at cinemas in Honfleur, Trappes and Meudon.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the audience.
