Concept Sport Emotion invites you to discover the ‘Roches Noires’ cliffs of Trouville and Villerville, as seen from the sea.
This long stretch begins to the east of Trouville-sur-Mer and extends for nearly four kilometres to the town of Villerville.
It offers a magnificent view of the sea, which led many prominent figures in the last century to build their villas here. Recurring ground movements caused more than a few of them to regret this decision when cracks began to spread through their walls! Since then, the area has been designated as a no-build zone.
This site is of international importance for the wintering of Spotted Oystercatchers. These birds, along with other species of waders (curlews, sandpipers, redshanks, etc.), come to feed on molluscs, bivalves and worms on the mussel beds as soon as they are exposed by the tide. At low tide, you can hear the calls of all these birds feasting, even though they are too far away (sometimes nearly a kilometre) to be seen. The intensity of the chorus nevertheless gives an idea of the large numbers present as they feed.
