Theatre: Let’s Move On – Cie Zaoum

Theatre – Ages 15 and over
We are not born women, we become them; we are not born men, we become them too – and not by perpetuating a patriarchal system of domination that is five millennia old.
Questioning ‘male domination’ is neither a feminist obsession nor a fad amongst Bourdieu-inspired intellectuals; it is a reality embedded in every personal story. The aim is to turn our perspectives on their head so that we can see and feel the impact of the system within us in a different light. And to achieve this shift, we needed a true partner in crime: the actor Jeremy Dubois – Malkhior.
A one-man band, capable of drawing us into a light-hearted and funny performance, and then, without transition, plunging us into the very heart of masculinity. He makes us hear something different: a voice that breaks free from hegemonic ‘masculinity’ to open the way for other forms of masculinity. With both radicalism and tenderness, Jeremy Dubois-Malkhior sheds light on the chain of determinisms from which men cannot escape. A one-man band, he draws us into a light-hearted and funny performance, then, without transition, plunges us into the very heart of masculinity, to give voice to other forms of masculinity and open the way to what might change.
This show tackles the sensitive subject of sexual violence
