Friendciscaines events: The educational institutions of the Legion of Honour and the professionalisation of women

The Legion of Honour’s educational institutions, founded by Napoleon, helped to promote girls’ education and the professionalisation of women. Béatrice Robert, who herself served as general administrator of this institution in Saint-Germain-en-Laye and is the author of a thesis on the subject, offers an insight into the daily life of these schools from their inception, through the lives of these women – some of whom were nuns – and their pupils.
