Concert: Core – Franceschini, Beethoven

Concert by Tovel & the Normandy Opera Rouen Ensemble – Suitable for all ages

You don’t need to know Beethoven to let yourself be swept away by this sensory experience, which blends classical concert and electronic performance.

With *Core*, composer Tovel (Matteo Franceschini) takes a simple theme by Beethoven and treats it like a sample: he repeats it, loops it and distorts it until it becomes something entirely new, interacting with the orchestra and live electronics.

Under his alias Tovel, he reinvents the figure of the singer-songwriter, where composing and performing merge on stage. Dan Azzopardi’s lighting design extends this concept, turning light into a language in its own right between the soloist and the orchestra.
