Concert: Avishai Cohen

A jazz composer, songwriter and double bassist, Avishai Cohen is recognised worldwide for his talents as a composer and instrumentalist. Both on record and in live performances, he masterfully blends jazz, classical music, world music and Israeli-Latin influences.

Avishai Cohen moved to New York in the United States in 1992 to meet and exchange ideas with other jazz musicians in order to hone his craft. It was there that he met the legendary Chick Corea, who took him under his wing, arranging for him to record and performing with him live on world tours with his bands: Origin and the Chick Corea New Trio.
Avishai Cohen released his debut album, entitled “Adama”, in 1998 on the Stretch Records label. The album was co-produced by his mentor Chick Corea… Avishai Cohen’s brilliant and exciting career was launched, enabling him to rub shoulders with the greatest musicians, such as Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove and Herbie Hancock.
