Le Clos Jolly
We rent a house in Saint aubin sur mer for the summer vacations from june to september.
Our vacation rental is located about 100 m from the bakery, 250 m from the butcher’s shop and a mini-market, so a car is not required; two supermarkets are about 2 kms from our vacation cottage.
The sea is 150 m away (a quiet, secluded cove); the seawall and tourist office are 250 m away.
As in all seaside resorts during the summer months, parking is difficult, but less so than elsewhere; in fact, the house is located a little away from the town center, in a much quieter area (see map), and a wide sidewalk in front of the house allows you to park at an angle and thus accept a larger number of cars.
Throughout the summer, the commune organizes a wide range of activities to keep you busy during the day and evening in a relaxed vacation atmosphere.
Restaurants, tearooms, ice-cream parlors and pizzerias on the seafront and in the town center will ensure you have a great time.
The beach is not dangerous; it is supervised and even very young children can swim without fear (under their parents’ supervision); lovers of fishing on foot can go fishing for bouquet (from August 01), grey shrimp or crab and edible crab (at high tide); lovers of angling can catch plaice, sea bass and other fish.
Finally, in July and August, and even in May, June and/or September, the sun is usually out; the water temperature, while not reaching the heights of the Mediterranean, is almost always over 21 degrees in summer; for a rainy day, the city of Caen offers hypermarkets and shops
For history buffs, the whole region is a gold mine: Caen (Memorial, château de guillaume le conquérant, Abbaye aux dames approx. 20 km away), Bayeux (tapestry of Queen Mathilde, museum, cathedral, the town itself, approx. 25 km away), Arromanches (artificial harbour, D-Day museum approx. 10 km away) and many other sites.
Finally, for children, there are numerous activity centers offering all kinds of leisure activities: amusement parks, zoos, theme parks…
