à HOULGATE

L'Épi d'Or

During your stay, we invite you to try the Fallue, one of the traditional recipes that tell the story of our region. It is a flat, oval-shaped brioche, decorated with ears of corn and not very sweet. Its crumb is soft and creamy, and fairly light in colour. The recipe mainly consists of flour, sugar, butter, milk, crème fraîche, eggs and yeast. It is often served alongside another iconic Normandy dessert: the Teurgoule.

Charline and Vincent Margueray, who have run the Boulangerie l’Épi d’Or in the heart of Houlgate since 2009, have won several awards for their famous Normandy brioche.
Vincent Margueray, a master artisan baker and master artisan pâtissier with the ‘Boulanger de France’ accreditation, bakes ‘La Fallue’ in his ovens – a creation for which he has been on the podium since 2021, thanks to the quality of his recipe.

Furthermore, every year for Epiphany, they also take great care to hide charming figurines, always in the Houlgate area.
