Flax growers for several generations, Mathilde and Benoît welcome you to the Saint-Vaast farm to share their passion for growing flax, with a guided tour of their farm.
Depending on the season, you’ll discover the many facets of flax and its 7 crops. You’ll be able to contemplate the expanses of little blue flowers or the green thumbs as far as the eye can see, smell the aromas of flax fibre, and touch the material at its various stages of transformation from seed to fabric. Mathilde will also introduce you to the history of flax, its cultivation and processing, and surprise you with the astonishing technical applications of this little-known fibre.
After watching two films, you’ll be taken on a tour of the farm and its constantly-evolving farming equipment.
At the end of the tour, you’ll understand why Normandy is the world’s leading producer of fibre flax.
There’s also a shop area, where you can stock up on items made from this environmentally-friendly, sustainable material (bed and table linen, home decor, bags, jewellery, baby items, clothing, seeds, etc.).
